Although reconstructive surgery has proved an important role in 2 end world and Vietnam wars , to rehabilitate the war survived wounded cases , there has not been any important later on until the war between Iran and Iraq which started 1981 and lasted around 8 years. During this war we received many cases that survived from battle field , with extensive soft tissue losses in the body from top to bottom . Most of them treated primarily in battle field or small zone hospitals and then referred to us for final treatment. We have applied more than 1500 free flaps in them , and we have gained satisfactory results , with around 85% success rate. Most of them now are active in the society, they have suitable jobs and family. The details of the flaps will be discussed in the lecture along with slides.
