A young person was brought to the hospital late at night with both of the forearm amputated due to a railway accident. He was found unconscious on admission and the amputated parts were not available. After a search the parts were found in a collected poot of water near the rail track after about 4 hours. We had to wait till his return to consciousness and later after 14 hours of the accident we could be able to perform surgery. The forearms were severely damaged in such a manner that on Right side the amputation was through the elbow joint obliquely going through the forearm, while on Left side it was going obliquely from the mid forearm through the wrist. It was felt that cross replantation would be possible. It was performed without any complications. The limb survived and the follow-up is from 1982 onwards. Limb function is moderate while sensation is good. He have discarded the prosthesis provided for the Right forearm, and is using the replanted Right forearm on left side with great comfort.
